The Basics of Innovative Web Development
January 10th, 2012 by adminThe internet is a household term. Nowadays pretty much everyone and their mother has a website, and purchasing the space and templates for a site of your own can sometimes be as easy as typing in the digits of your credit card. However, if you’re trying to develop a website that will stand out from the rest then there are a few basics you’ll need to think about.
By now you’ve probably been all over the internet on Comporium or whatever your internet service provider of choice, trying to find ideas on how to get this idea off the ground, and that’s really the first step. You’re going to want to spend a healthy amount of time planning this thing out. What is your point (regarding the site) and why should people care (about it)? Learning how to make your site relevant to your audience will go a long way toward boosting its popularity and potential.
You’re also going to want to learn a thing or two about the basic programming languages of the internet. HTML, CSS, XHTML, etc. It all looks like a bunch of letters but having an understanding of these languages can do wonders for you in the long run and there are plenty of free resources and tutorials on the internet regarding these languages.
When developing a website, remember that it all starts with an idea, but you can’t spend too much time in the planning phase. Get your hands dirty and become familiar with the languages and tools (Dreamweaver, Flash, etc.). The best forms of innovation often sprout from limited resources and knowledge and, who knows, maybe your site could become the next big thing people will be talking about for weeks.
